RAP BEEFS IN TORONTO

The Hip Hop game has always been a competitive sport. No other genre’s artist battle each other for the top spot. You don’t hear Ariana Grande & Selena Gomez going back and forth on who has the best Pop Music lyrics or most Spanish sounding name. From Busy Bee vs Kool Moe Dee to Jay-Z vs Nas to Drake vs Meek Mill. Rappers have always had rap beef. With the aforementioned Drake being a Toronto Rappers, Drizzy has had his share of beefs from the beginning of his career. From Aristo, Empire, Big Page and more The 6ix God has had his share of back and forth bars with Toronto Rappers.
Now in the time where Toronto is on the map and a musical force to be reckoned with, we’ve seen a surge in competition. Add the extra layer that we have IG Live that rappers use to air each other out, pull up on each others girlfriends (Or Cyattie) or join each other to argue in front of their fans and foes in real time.
Over 2018 to now into early 2019 we have been tracking a lot of these beefs and though we don’t speak on a lot of them on the We Love Hip Hop Podcast, we are very aware of them. Tory Lanez vs Everybody! From Top 5 versus many like Drama Da Problem (6ix Views Alumni), Pressa , Houdini (WLHH alumni) and more. Honcho Hoodlum vs various rappers like TG , Roney, and recently WhyG (WLHH Alumnus) as well as Dre Barrs. Barrs hit Honcho Hoodlum summer of 2018 with a furious serving with his track 54 Infants, then went on to battle with Jason Packs & Brizzle La Musica both also WLHH Alumnus. There are many more that we chose not to cover with hopes that it doesn’t go beyond the music and sometimes it’s just Deeper than Rap.
Big up to Keep 6ix Lives (@Keep6ixLives) for providing us with the hip hop entertainment via the IG Live feeds of ALL of your favorite Toronto Rappers.
Let us know what you think below. Is rap beef holding us back in Toronto? Is it real or cappin’?
